Building My Perfect SNES Classic: Part 3

Shortly after my hype subsided from the announcement of the NES Classic, my immediate thought was, “What if Nintendo makes an SNES Classic?!” That system has a special spot in my heart for being a critical part of my gaming life as a 90s kid. It also doesn’t hurt that the games on this console are some of the greatest of all-time.

In this 10-part series, I’ll highlight three games that I would like to see in a hypothetical SNES Classic.

Part 1
Part 2

Let’s continue with part 3!

Super Metroid

Metroid games have been quite the ordeal for me. With the exception of Metroid Prime, I tend to get lost really early on and give up. While I may not get far, the intro to Super Metroid is classic and it keeps that itch for me to beat it alive.

Street Fighter II Turbo

Often hailed as one of the best in the series, Street Fighter II Turbo upgrades the foundation of its predecessor with new special moves and a welcome speed boost. For that pure Street Fighter experience before the introduction of super bars and other frills, this is the game to play.

Earthbound

Have to admit that I’ve never played this one before. So why is it on my list? Well, its legendary stature is so undeniable that I feel like I have to try it at some point. Why not as part of a hypothetical SNES Classic?

In summary, the games on this list so far are:

Super Mario World
F-Zero
NHL 94
Donkey Kong Country
Super Punch-Out!!
X-Men Mutant Apocalypse
Super Metroid
Street Fighter II Turbo

Come back soon for part 4!
