Morning Glories Vol. 4: Truants

Twenty episodes in, and Morning Glories is already rolling out their Saved By The Bell: The New Class? Introduced at the very end of Vol. 3, the Truants are a militaristic group of students on a mission. In this series of issues, their origins are explored, their connection to the original gang is explained, and their mission is outlined. These kids do kick butt, but do they make for entertaining comics?

Unlike the original gang, these kids know damn well what they’re doing here. They have a plan and they’re doing their best to finish it. Well, most of them are, anyway. Also, they all have a relationship with the mysterious Abraham, who appears to be increasingly important to the story.

Having these new kids added to the mix helps expand an aspect of the story that has been largely ignored to-date, though there are still many questions to be answered. In particular, the revelation of time travel can really shake things up if done correctly. I didn’t enjoy Vol. 4: Truants as much as Vol. 3: P.E., though it’s still a good read overall and one that fans of the series should continue with.

I’ve never even heard of this comic book series. Is the original any good?
